The Credit Review Office review process is outlined below:
- As part of your application, you will be required to enter into a legal agreement with the Credit Review Office to allow it to access information which is contractually confidential between you and the bank.
- If you have not already done so we will arrange for your loan application to be put through your bank’s own formal internal appeals process.
- Your application form will include the factual information relating to the loan application. You will also be asked to submit your opinion on how you believe the loan will be repaid to the bank. This information will be shared with your bank.
- The bank will be asked to confirm the facts and provide their opinion on why they believe the borrower would not be able to repay the loan. This information will only be shared with the borrower who may choose to comment on the bank’s response.
- The Credit Review Office will assemble the above information for review by an experienced credit underwriter. Care will be taken to ensure than the credit underwriter has no previous connection with either you or your bank.
- The credit underwriter’s assessment will be overviewed by a senior panel before your bank is advised of the opinion of the Credit Review Office on the case and asked to confirm its next actions.
- You will then be sent the final opinion together with the bank's proposed actions.
